Drama and Dance

Learning the performing arts such as drama and dance teaches children to grow in confidence, find their creative voice and learn to see the world from another’s point of view. The beautiful  grounds of Ludwell provide an inspiring backdrop for various ad- hoc plays and productions throughout the year. Each child has the opportunity to ‘tread the boards’ during his or her time at Ludwell as there are plenty of productions to take part in each year. These include the whole- school end off year play, Nativity performances, the Festival of Nine Lessons service, Harvest services and class assemblies.

There are class assemblies every year, a Nativity play at Christmas and, in the summer term, a whole - school production. The latter production brings together the whole school in a rich, riotous and fun production penned by the Headmaster. Past productions have included Pirates of the Curry Bean and Porridge, All are packed with jokes, fabulous dance sequences, comic chases, singing and of course the odd teacher dressed up!

The summer play showcases not only the talent of the children but the willingness of all of them to give it a go. This production requires every child in Key Stage 1 and 2 to play his or her part to the best, support one other and entertain the crowd of delighted guests of parents, friends and family.

This year our whole- school production is The Amazing Adventures of Superstan. Come and join us at 7 pm on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th June at Charlton Memorial Hall for what promises to be a fantastic show.

Dance at Ludwell has always been popular and there are a opportunities for participation throughout the year including street dance sessions, African dance and Zumba. Dance is taught in the school hall by visiting specialist teachers.
